Treble Makers!

Across the school, the focus has has continued to be about learning an instrument. In KS1 all children have been learning the recorders and children across KS2 have been learning the keyboards. The skills learnt have been progressive with children in Year 3 learning to play notes with the right hand and those in Upper KS2 learning to play with the left hand, learning the notes of the bass clef.

Vocabulary Voyage - EYFS

In the early years, we effectively introducing new vocabulary, making sure children grasp the meanings of these words. Children have enjoyed singing familiar songs, confidently experimenting with changes in tempo, pitch, and volume. Building on the theme of 'The Seaside,' they'll also begin to compose their own verses with support. Our lessons consistently provide opportunities to recap previous skills, which helps to reinforce their learning. Throughout these activities, the children have shown great enthusiasm and engagement in their performances, with many eager to share their ideas.

Blowing in Harmony - KS1

Year 2 children have been continuing their recorder learning where they have been learning to play the notes G and F. This has involved them playing with 2 hands and using their music reading skills to play short pieces both as solos and in small groups. They have learnt about rhythms to make sure they are playing in time.

Keys to Success - LKS2

Year 4 have learnt to play the right hand on the keyboards. They have built on their existing knowledge by learning more notes and changing their hand position so they start with their fingers on different notes. Year 4 children can now play notes from C-C using appropriate fingers.

GarageBand Grooves - UKS2

This term, Year 5 have continued to learn to play the keyboard using the GarageBand keyboard. They have started to use their left hand and learn the notes of the bass clef. They understand that the notes descend and the same pattern of notes and fingers used match the right hand. This then prepares them to play both hands together.
