Brilliant Brushstrokes
This work showcases the outcomes of the different art units across the school. These final pieces have come as a result of the investigation and exploration and analysis of the artist; practicing skills in style of each artist, and composition of the final outcomes. All of this has led to the children being able to create these masterpieces!
Making Our Marks - EYFS
This half term, the Reception children have been combining different materials and using a variety of mark making tools in order to develop their creative skills. The children were accessing the materials as part of the continuous provision and were experimenting with design and creating texture.
Brushstroke Britain - KS1
In Year 1, the children painted London Night landscapes in the style of Vincent Van Gogh. They sketched different famous landmarks and then used thick brushstrokes to create movement in the night sky. The children learnt how to make colours darker by adding black or lighter by adding white.
Exploring with Dora - LKS2
In Year 4, the children explored the work of Dora Maar. They looked at her work from photography towards the more abstract painting, including experimenting with colour mixing. The children considered how tone, shades, hues and tints in the palette can convey different moods. Then the children created an abstract landscape painting of Provence in France in the style of Dora Maar.
Biomes of Beauty - UKS2
In Year 5, the children explored the landscape painting of Georgia O'Keeffe. They were inspired by the biomes they were learning about in geography and then chose one to paint in the style of Georgia O'Keeffe. The children investigated colour and watercolour techniques before sketching different ideas. Then they produced their final piece.
