Tree-mendous Animals
Children this term have been focusing on using their scientific skills of using second hand research to inform their learning and understanding along with using scientific skills of enquiry to plan and carry out their own investigations.
Younglings and Saplings - Nursery
Children in Nursery have been looking at images of plants and looking at the plant life cycle before having some seeds to plant themselves.
Paw-some Habitat Facts - Year 2
In Year 2 children used research to learn about different habitats. They then processed this information to create their own fact files based on an animal of their choice and its habitat. They focused on how animals are suited to the climate of their habitat and what the landscape they live in is like.
Leafing through Science, Drop by Drop - Year 4
Children in Year 4 have been learning about the water cycle. They used their science skills to plan and carry out an enquiry based on the question ‘how much water comes out of plants in transpiration.’ They thought about the different variables there would be and wrote their own predictions using their knowledge to inform them. They then completed the enquiry to answer their question.
Kings of Their Domains - Year 6
Year 6 have also been looking at living things and their habitats. They used second hand research to answer a range of questions about animals to help them classify them based on given criteria. They then went on to learn about kingdoms and how scientists use classification and grouping today.
