The Good Sumaritan
In Spring 1 we had a staff meeting to encourage staff to use artefacts, visitors and or visits to places of worship to enhance children’s understanding and engagement. We can see that staff are already implementing this advice into their planning and delivery of lessons.
A Fast Prelude of Confessions - Nursery
In Nursery, the children learnt that Shrove Tuesday is a celebration before Easter and that some Christians have pancakes on that day. They also learnt that this religious tradition is followed by many other people who enjoy and eat pancakes.
Curious Minds, Faithful Moments - Year 2
In Year 2, the children had a Christian visitor who discussed with them the various activities that takes place in their church. The children were also given time, before the visit, to pose their own questions on Showbie for the visitor to answer.
Different Faiths, Common Grounds - Year 4
In Year 4, the children had the opportunity to examine Christian and Hindu artefacts when comparing worship in different religions. The children noticed that there are many similarities, as well as many differences.
Matthew 5:43–48. - Year 6
In Year 6, children explored the bible focusing on verses that spoke about how Jesus showed love. They then created freeze frames to explore the theme further.
