Build Strong Bodies

The P.E. curriculum develops a broad range of skills across a number of different units which can be performed outdoors and may lead to future competitive participation.

Body Balance Beginners - EYFS

Reception children enjoyed practising balance and coordination during their indoor PE sessions. They worked on different movements of different body parts. They demonstrated improved confidence in their basic body movements.

Bats, Balls, Win Them All - KS1

In their Review & Reflect session at the end of their Bat & Ball Skills Unit, Year 1 demonstrated all the skills they had learned, including:.

  • to roll the ball along the ground with the bat

  • to balance the ball on the bat and try to keep it as still as possible

  • to practice hitting ball up in the air

  • to practice hitting ball downwards

  • to practice hitting ball back and forwards to each other

Happy Feet - LKS2

In their Review & Reflect session at the end of their Charleston Dance unit, Year 4 demonstrated all the skills they had learned and practised, including:

  • stillness and gesture

  • travel, turn and jump

  • Charleston footsteps. I can maintain bouncy movement to the music beat throughout the routine (unless still).

  • some fun and flair with dramatic arm movements along with my steps.

Footwork of David - UKS2

In their Review & Reflect session at the end of their Dance unit, Year 5 demonstrated all the skills they had learned and practised, including:

  • using canon to repeat movements in quick succession

  • keeping in time with the music

  • using different levels

  • working in unison
