Becoming the Best Me

Through our Going for Gold strand of learning in Spring, the children learn how to be their best selves. They begin to learn about their own positive attributes in EYFS and how they can be used to show love to others. They begin to recognise that both similarities and differences make them special. This is built upon in KS1 in thinking about what the child do well and acknowledging their successes. In KS2 this then gains a more outward looking focus, the children learn how they can positively affect others and then in Year 6 they look into the future and the way that everything that they have learned can help them in their adult lives.

The Nature of Love - EYFS

In Reception we have been learning about love. We thought about who and what we love. The children then thought about ways that they can show love using their individual talents and positive attributes.

Confidence VS Hubris - KS1

In PSHE, Year 2 have been thinking about our talents, what we are good at and what we enjoy doing. We discussed how it is good to be proud of ourselves, but that we have to be careful that we still show humility. We also thought about the idea of being boastful.

Paragonical Exemplars - LKS2

In Year 4, we were learning about being a good role model to others. We decided on positive traits that we have and we can develop that will help us in our lives. We kept in mind a younger person who we could be a role model for using this trait.

Career’s Morning - UKS2

On 30th January, Year 6 enjoyed a careers morning. They were able to meet a pharmacist, an engineer, a solicitor, Sportacus as well as a plumber and a geologist. All the visitors commented on their fantastic use of questions and how they were excellent role models to the rest of the school. The children then thought about what they would like to be when they grow up and what steps they need to take to get there. We have very ambitious pupils here at Heronsgate!
