Responsibility and Regulation

Children learn the various ways that they can be responsible. They begin with their school environment, learning to share classroom resources and look after their own belongings such as school jumpers. As they continue through the school, they learn about wider responsibilities such as staying safe in and outside of school (Road safety). They also learn that we are all responsible for celebrating and recognising the achievements of others regardless of race, gender, religion.

Don’t Hate; Regulate - EYFS

The children have been working on turn taking in Nursery  through collaborative play, such as building a structure with blocks. When conflicts arise over limited materials, the adult practitioner facilitates the interaction by modeling language for negotiation and sharing, such as asking, "Can I have a turn first?" This guided process helps children move beyond immediate grabbing, fostering crucial skills like self-regulation, empathy, and communication. Successfully sharing resources and respecting boundaries during construction reinforces that cooperation leads to a positive, shared outcome.
