Faith, Family, Forever

In EYFS the children explore the theme of belonging and their place in the world. In year 2, they are able to expand their vocabulary to thinking about how they can apply their understanding to those around them and their actions can impact others. By Year 4 the children are thinking about the critically about practicalities of a religion and how these inspire a greater feeling of belonging to the faith. Finally in Year 6, they are exploring greater themes of belief and how this might shape their world view.

Home, Family, and Beyond - EYFS

In Reception, the children explore where they belong. They extend their thinking from their homelife and families to thinking about the wider communities, including school. They thought about the words they would use to describe their feelings.

Love Thy Neighbour - KS1

In Autumn 1,  Year 2  explored the theme of ‘Love thy Neighbour from the Christian bible. What does the Bible mean by neighbour? What actions we can do that will show this.  The children reflected on what they had learnt and applied to their own lives.’

Customs of the Church - LKS2

In Autumn 1, Year 4 discovered what types of activities happen inside a church. They learnt the different activities and rituals that a church is used for and the correct vocabulary to explain this such as Holy Communion and baptism. At the end of the lesson they reflected upon what they had learnt and found the most interesting.

Faith Eternal - UKS2

Year 6 explored the meaning of eternity in Autumn 1. They initially thought about what eternity means and applied to the their own experiences - What has survived for the period they have been alive, what they think will last forever and what they would like to last forever. They the reflected upon whether or not something could be eternal and weighed this against their own beliefs.
