Maps and Me

In the examples below, we are proud to show our learning related to Human and Physical geography, where there is an interaction between humans and the environment.

Globe Trotting Tots - EYFS

In Reception, we have been looking at atlases and globes and talking about where children’s families come from. We have then been comparing the differences of the environments in those countries compared to the UK.

Waves and Woolwich - KS1

In Year 1’s topic of seasides, we compared aerial photographs of Woolwich with St. Ives and identified the differences and similarities in the human and physical features there.

Graphing Getaways - LKS2

In our topic of Ratatouille, Year 4 found out about the geography of Provence in France, comparing it with that of London and Paris. In this example we completed a bar chart and a line graph to compare the climate (sunshine and temperature) of Provence with these other locations. We then drew conclusions about why it is such a popular tourist destination and how this might differ to the reasons people visit capital cities on holiday.

Balance in the Biome - UKS2

In Year 5’s topic of Biomes, we identified the importance of and problems faced by particular biomes and how they can be solved. We quickly realised that although humans can have a negative impact on such environments, we can also have the ability to solve these problems.
