2026: Year of the Horse - EYFS
In Reception, we learnt about the origin of Lunar New Year and how it is still celebrated today. Children looked at the story and discussed the celebrations of it that still continue today.
Fired Up Histories - KS1
In our History topic on the Great Fire of London children discussed What is different in London since The Great Fire of London? They were able to identify different images relating to what was different since the Great fire and discuss what they found out. All children knew that because of the Great Fire the Fire brigade changed and the materials that houses were made from also changed. A rich discussion was had.
Woolwich: Then to Near-Then - LKS2
In Year 3, we’ve been learning all about life 'Down at the Docks.' We looked at how Woolwich Dockyard has changed over the years, specifically how its purpose shifted from building ships to serving as a military base. We also explored the historical links between the British Empire and the growth of Woolwich.
Old Places, New Names - UKS2
In this lesson, Year 5 looked at evidence for where the Anglo Saxons moved to to in the middle Saxon period after their initial settlements in East Anglia through modern placer names, showing the similarities and differences in settlement patterns.
