Year 1 had a great time visiting Woodlands Farm today, with a focus on numeracy and science. The day started with a shape hunt around the farm along with meeting all the different animals. Whilst searching for shapes the children also had a chance to create repeated patterns using images of eggs by the chicken coop and finding out which was the most common shape on the farm. It appeared to be rectangles and squares, one gate had over 400 squares in the metal work! After a quick lunch break the children read the story of the three little pigs and were the set task of building the pigs different houses to test the materials they used. They realised that hay isn’t as easy to build with as they thought. Everyone had a lovey day and we were all glad it was dry and sunny!
