Friday 3rd April – Day 10

We are now in the spring season and there are lots of exciting changes that are happening in nature. If you look outside your window, what changes can you notice since winter? How have the trees changed? What colours can you see? Watch the Numberblocks video below about spring.

Can you design your own weather chart and record the weather during the Easter holidays? 

You can draw and make separate cards for the different types of weather, such as sunny, rainy, windy, cloudy. 

Nursery: Can you find some objects around your house that start with the ‘n’ sound? 

Reception: Practice writing the words the, was, is, and. 

Can you write the word for some of the objects in the picture below? Can you write a caption or sentence to describe one of the objects? For example, you could write “The bus is big.” 

General Activities

  • Each day, please practice writing your name or first letter in your name.
  • Read a book together with your family.
  • Please upload photos and videos to Tapestry of the fantastic learning you are doing at home for us to see!

Thursday 2nd April – Day 9

This term we read the book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. Watch the video below of Michael Rosen reading the story. As you watch the video, encourage your child to join in with the words and actions. 

Once you have watched the video, can you create your own book of what the story is about? You can draw the different characters and scenes from the story. Can you write some words or a sentence about your drawing? 

Nursery: Play I Spy with colours first. Then play I Spy using the initial sounds in objects. For example, if you spy a pot, you would say “I spy something that starts with p…”

Reception: Use your phonics pack to practice writing tricky words we, she, he, me

Can you draw pictures to show how many different ways you can make 5? What about 10? 

Wednesday 1st April – Day 8

Watch the Numberblocks video “Just add One” 

What objects can you add together around your house? How many socks and vests do you have? How many spoons and forks?

Nursery: Play ‘Kim’s Game’. Put three or four household objects on a tray. Look through these objects with your child. Then cover with a cloth and take one object away. Reveal to your child and see if they can name the missing object.

Reception only: Use your phonics pack to practice saying the sound and writing the letters e, u, r, h. Can you write some words with these sounds? Maybe you could go on a hunt around the house for objects that have these sounds in them to write?

Practice reading some of the tricky words: the, no, go, I, into

Can you write some sentences with the words from your flashcards and the letters from your phonics book?

Tuesday 31st March – Day 7

Watch the Alphablocks

Nursery: Can you find items around your home that start with the ‘p’ sound?

Practice doing the buttons on a shirt.

Reception only: Use your phonics pack to practice saying the sound and writing the letters o, c, k, ck. Can you write some words with these sounds?

Make flash cards of the words:  the, to, no, go, into, is, it, in, at, and, I. Practice reading and writing these words.

Can you write some sentences with the words from your flashcards and the letters from your phonics book?

Monday 30th March – Day 6

Watch the Numberblocks

Nursery: Can you find items around your home that start with the ‘t’ sound?

Practice counting to 10. Can you find any numbers around your home?

Reception only: Use your phonics pack to practice saying the sound and writing the letters m, d , g. Can you write some words with these sounds?

Make flash cards of the words:  the, to, no,  go, into, is, it, in, at, and, I. Practice reading and writing these words.

Practice writing the numbers 1-10.
