Friday 24th April – Day 15


Write your own volcano poem.

There are two writing frames for you to use. You can either use the acrostic and start each line with the first letter, or you can create your own. You could even have a go at both! Remember to use all the great vocabulary you’ve been practising.

Think about how all your senses experienced the volcano.

See the writing frames for your steps for success. Remember to check them yourself first!


Complete the maths investigation. Can you make the same number in 2 different ways using the bowling pins. You can use 2 or more numbers for each equation . You can write your answers on paper or use the tools and
write them on Showbie.

There are also the answers to yesterday’s maths problems as well. How did you do?

Thursday 23rd April – Day 14


Get your volcano picture and watch this video of a volcano erupting:

Use your senses to add more adjectives, similes and other interesting volcano language of your own. Remember the cameraman is quite far away so listen carefully to what it sounds like!

Your task is to write an eyewitness account or diary entry about your experience of a volcano erupting. Use the wonderful language you’ve collected up around your drawing. If you want, you can write on the special volcano paper.

I’ve written an example you can use to help you.

Use the steps to success to help you. Remember to check them yourself and make improvements before you ask a grown up!


You need to solve the word problems. Either draw the part-part-whole models or use the annotation tools on Showbie. Represent the word problems in the part-part-whole models, then write the number sentence. You can use objects, drawings or your own maths knowledge.

As an extra challenge, you could represent the problems as bar models.


Draw or paint a still life picture of a plant or flower in your home on paper or use the example to draw/ paint your own plant or flower on showbie using the tools.

Then have a go at labeling your picture with these parts of the plant or flower: petals, stem, leaves, root, flower.

Wednesday 22nd April – Day 13


Read the volcano poems again. If you can, either on Showbie or on a print out, underline all the adjectives you can see.

Draw a picture of a volcano, like the one below.

You can draw your picture on the sheet on Showbie or using pencils and paper.

Write all the adjectives you discovered around it. Write any other interesting volcano language you found too.

Challenge: In a different colour, underline any similes you see and add those to the picture.

Keep your picture for tomorrow and Friday!


Use the part-part-whole models to complete the number sentences. You can use the drawing tools on Showbie to do this. Question 2 is challenging so make sure you use objects such as counters to make sure you understand it.


Explore the seeds of different fruits that you have at home or look at the pictures provided. An adult can cut open the fruit and explore what you can see inside. Can you see the seeds? Draw a picture of the fruit and its seeds and write a caption to describe the shape, colour, size of the seeds on paper, or use the tools on Showbie to draw and write captions.

Tuesday 21st April – Day 12


Read the volcano poems.

Write a sentence saying which is your favourite. Use ‘because’ to explain why!

Write three sentences saying what you like about each of the poems, using ‘because to explain why. You can do this using pencil and paper or on the blank sheet on Showbie.


Please mark your learning from yesterday using the answer sheet. Use counters to try to figure out where you went wrong if any were incorrect.

Please complete the worksheet. You are adding by counting on. If you can, count on from the number of objects in the first group instead of counting them all up. You can complete by printing out or using the drawing tool on Showbie.

Monday 20th April – Day 11


Complete the number bonds worksheet. Use counters or other objects if you’re finding it tricky. Print it out or write with the drawing tool on Showbie.

Challenge: Represent the number bonds as bar models.


Today, there’s an ‘ai’ phonics challenge.

Underline the different ai digraphs in all the words, segment and read the word.

Next read the story, underlining the digraphs so you’re sure you can read all the words. Then read it again to make sure you understand!

Read the first question and look for the information you need. You can underline it on Showbie or on a print out. Answer the question in a full sentence, then answer the others in the same way.

Remember – what does a full sentence begin and end with?

Print it out or use the drawing tool to sound button and use text notes/voice notes to answer the questions on Showbie.


Geography Focus: The world is a very big place. It has lots of land and lots of sea. The water splits the land up and makes continents. Continents are very large sections of land that have a lot of different countries within them. There are 7 continents in the world. Play the continents song and children to sing.

Look at the world map and label it with the names of the 7 continents.
