Over the last few weeks, the Reception classes were very lucky to have the opportunity to hatch ducklings from eggs in their classrooms. Three sets of duck eggs were placed inside incubators and the children carefully watched as cracks started appearing across the different of eggs. We were able to see several of the ducklings hatch right before our eyes, which was very exciting! It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to see part of a real lifecycle and watch the ducklings grow rapidly as well as being able to hold them and learn about the responsibility of looking after animals. The whole school was able to watch a live link of the hatching and the duckling habitat via webcam, as well as coming to visit the ducklings. A great experience for the whole school!
