Heronsgate History Day

On Wednesday 27th January, Heronsgate stepped back in time, with Staff and pupils dressing up as historical characters and shared with others who they were. Alissa in Year 4 said, “I was surprised that Queen Victoria was Empress of India.” Olivia learned that Jesus was around at the same time as the Romans!

Children also had a lesson discovering our local heritage by looking at historical maps and aerial photographs. Abdul-Wahab found out that the Royal Arsenal was not shown on maps in the old days. He wondered if that was because the factories there were top secret and the information had to be kept from our enemies! It was fascinating to realise that our local area holds so many secrets that we are just beginning to reveal.
