For this year’s Finance and Enterprise Day, we focused on enterprise skills for Key Stage 2 through an Apprentice challenge culminating in pitching to a panel, and on shopping and money skills for Key Stage 1 and Foundation Stage through stories and a market stall. These real-life style activities were designed to get the children excited as well as giving them opportunities to develop finance and enterprise know-how.
KS1 and 2 were set a design challenge in the morning by our very own ‘Lord Prockter’, who asked them to design their own rucksack (KS1) or winter coat/mobile phone app (KS2). Teams then came up with ideas, creating a pitch to persuade potential customers to purchase their product. Winning pitches from each class were then held in the Key Stage 2 hall in front of a panel of judges, who grilled the teams, before deciding on the champions. Our KS1 winners were Team Freedom from Class 14: Nour El Deen, Farhan, Jasreen, Kyal, Rachael and Lev who designed and presented the best product and advert for their neon rucksack.
KS2 winners were Hafsah, Aaron, Onyinyechi, Richie, Jamie and Tobi from Year 6 for their ‘Monkey Survival’ mobile app and Kennedy, Cara, Millie, Denim and Joyce from Year 5 for their ‘K Coat’ designed with its own built-in radio and fridge!
Many thanks to Mrs Ahmed for organising such an enjoyable and creative day and to everyone that took part.
