Celebrating the Arts at Heronsgate

Last term, Art, Music and Dance took centre stage at Heronsgate for a week of fantastic events.

The Easter Art Festival brought together children across Key Stages and across campuses for a fantastic range of performances. It was a great opportunity for the children and parents to celebrate all the talented arts performers we have here at Heronsgate. Three choirs from Key Stages 1 and 2 performed a range of wonderful songs, including a rap made up by the upper KS2 choir, and our resident Street Dance club also put on a special performance of their own choreographed dance.

This was then followed by the setting up of art galleries at both the Thamesmead and Royal Arsenal campus for the week. The galleries featured one piece of art work from every child from Nursery to Year 6 which was hung in a frame for everyone to see. The children studied a number of artists including Kandinsky, Jackson Pollock and Hokusai to inspire their art, which was then professionally displayed in frames, on boards and was visited by all classes and parents. The children really enjoyed seeing their art being displayed for all their friends and family to see and we hope we can hold another art exhibition next year!

A big thank you to Miss Beswetherick and Miss Toberman for orchestrating these events, along with the many other talented teachers who worked hard to prepare performances for the festival.
