We celebrated our annual Book Week at the beginning of March with a special focus on poetry. Both school sites were visited by a fantastic children’s poet, Justin Coe. He led lively and laugh out loud assemblies for all the children from Reception to Year 6, and even got some of the teachers up and performing with him. Justin also ran workshops with the Year 5 classes. Under his guidance, the children produced some brilliant poems.
Later in the week the whole school dressed up for World Book Day. All of the costumes looked fantastic, from Harry Potter to Cruella Deville! On the same day the children took part in performance poetry showcases. Each class had spent the week learning a poem off by heart and they put on an incredible show, using actions, expression and sometimes even music to bring their poem to life. Thank you to all the parents and carers who came to watch our performances.
